Cape Paterson Aquathon

The Cape Aquathon is an exciting swim race and part of the Bass Coast Series.

This race, along with the Cowes Classic, Phillip Island Penguin Swim Classic, and the Channel Challenge, is among the most highly anticipated in the community sports calendar.

The event occurs one day each year, and registration begins at 8am. Presentations and results are done an hour after the race finishes. It will start at Cape Paterson First Surf Beach, where swimmers participate in a 400-metre surf swim. They then run back to the clubhouse to put their shoes on, along the picturesque clifftops on Brown Road and head west of Surf Beach Road, where they are headed towards Second Surf. After a final loop to The Cape estate, they finish the line at the carpark of First Surf.

Entrant Categories

The Cape Aquathon is open to several entrant categories: Junior male and junior female for 14-17 years of age, Adult male and adult female for those aged 18 and above, Male and female 40 years old and up, Male and female 50 years old and up, Male team and female team, and Team mixed. All participants should be permanent residents of the Bass Coast Shire.

The minimum age for all participants of the Cape Aquathon is 14. Registration begins at the Cape Paterson Surf Lifesaving Club by 8am, where organisers will distribute timing bracelets, coloured swim caps, and the race pack loaded with goodies. Winners are treated to exciting cash prizes plus a trophy!

Each competitor will be issued a transponder (timing bracelet) which they will be required to wear at all times during the race. It is the responsibility of competitors to ensure the transponders are securely fastened to them before entering and exiting the water.
