There are two main beaches to choose from, both of which are ideal for swimming, surfing, fishing, and even diving. Cape Paterson Bay Beach is a curved coastal area 400 metres in size and is located at the foot of the camping and caravan grounds. This beach is best known for safe swimming for both kids and adults, as well as diving and fishing. It also features a man-made rock pool situated near the rock platform.
Cape Paterson Surf Beach is popular among surfers and is best known for its surf breaks where the waves are around 1.3 metres on average. Basic tourist facilities are located at the Surf Life Saving Club on the beach’s western end. However, when swimming here, it’s recommended to avoid the reefs and rocks situated at each end of the beach.
Both beaches are patrolled by lifesavers but only during the summer months. They are excellent destinations during the summer, where you can enjoy a great variety of water and outdoor activities. A sealed car park is available, and local food stores nearby offer an array of food and drink.
After beaching it out, check out the scenic Bunurong Coastal Drive. It features magnificent winding roads that take you through Cape Paterson and Inverloch, peppered with breathtaking views of the Bass Strait.
